Track Updates

Paul Martin

Spotlight: Paul Martin

We would like to congratulate Paul Martin and thank him for his continued support of JAM. He is one of our sponsored customers and just finished a great season of record setting performance.

Paul is running our Stage 3 2.3L shortblock package topped with our Stage 3 ported cylinder head and valvetrain in his Evo VI. This setup includes our JAM-Spec custom Venolia pistons, Oliver billet rods and 100mm crank. The cylinder head is equipped with HKS 280 cams, JAM +1mm nitride coated valves, JAM dual valve springs and titanium retainers. The head also features our full port work including runners, chamber and bowl work enhanced by our custom valve job. On pump gas the car makes 510whp and on race gas it makes 568whp. This is a bulletproof engine with over 10k hard miles on it, both on the track AND on the street! Paul competed in over 25 racing events this past year alone. The only required maintenance since the engine went into the car is routine oil changes.

Congratulations Paul Martin

Congratulations go out once again to Paul Martin, who we sponsor. All of his racing success in the UK earned him a spot in Japanese Performance magazine. For those of you that don't subscribe, I've scanned the article so you can have a peek below. Follow the thread on evolutionm.net

MLR Super Sprint Series

Paul competes in the MLR Super Sprint series and has finished 4th overall in 2007 and moved up to 2nd in 2008. The best standing Km time Paul has posted is a 19.03 seconds @ 173.3mph. The best ET to date is a 10.58@133 on road racing tires and suspension.

Ten of The Best (UK)

Paul also competes in the TOTB (Ten of the Best) competition in the UK and finished 9th overall out of over 100 cars. Not bad for a street legal car that tips the scales at 3,020lbs.

TOTB is a performance road car event, aimed at finding the best allround car in Europe. Handling, top speed and the 1/4m drag strip are used to determine the outcome. All the cars that compete in our main road class competition are road legal, taxed, tested and insured. There is also a new "pro-drag class" for the ultimate drag only cars. Many of the cars that compete at TOTB are modified, some to the extreme. Many of the entrants have built and modified their own vehicles, while others represent the cream of the crop from the Tuners and Garages that specialize in the type of cars we see competing. Points are awarded in each of the three events overall, making it extremely difficult to score points in all events unless the car and driver are on top form on the day! The Pro-Drag class will have its own shootout final and trophy, with regular head to head runs during the day.

Paul was also featured in the Mitsubishi Lancer Register's publication, Wastegate Chatter. The car was driven by an independent third party who set a new track record. To top it off, the record was set on a wet track surface! "...the acceleration is staggering, akin to firing a ram jet; in only 110 feet the car accelerates to 108mph! But it is also the shear response of this big tubro'd car that amazes me, with very very little lag in the lower gears."
